IP INTELLIGENCE
Challenges and solutions related to the prevention of criminal activities and the detection of terrorist attacks are increasingly focused on the use of the Internet and Web 2.0 services. With the advent of new applications, communication capabilities have expanded, offering innovative ways to interact, share information, and organize activities. Criminal organizations are exploiting these applications, taking advantage of the anonymity provided by the Internet.
There is no single solution to this complex challenge. IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) solutions bring a new level of intelligence capability, including IP monitoring with Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) systems and social network analysis through OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) platforms with Virtual HUMINT capabilities. These are designed to complement traditional lawful interception infrastructure. The combination of different methodologies and technologies is key to improving visibility and achieving the goal of identifying, preventing, and neutralizing threats from various channels such as the Web, Deep Web, Dark Web, Social Media, and Forums.
This approach underscores the use of advanced technologies and intelligence strategies to combat the security threats that emerge in the digital era, highlighting the complexity and variety of tools necessary to effectively tackle these challenges.

OSINT – OPEN SOURCE INTELLIGENCE
An end-to-end OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) platform offered by Athena Intelligence is a modular and advanced solution for analyzing the Web and Social Networks.
The purpose of this platform is to identify, prevent, and neutralize threats. Among the main advantages of this platform:
- The ability to collect public data from a wide range of sources.
- The geo-location of the obtained results.
- The possibility to correlate information across the most used social networks.
- The analysis of relationships and the creation of statistical graphs.
- Advanced semantic analysis on specific entities in multiple languages.
- Integration with third-party analytical tools and databases.
- Reporting tools for both technical analysts and high-level decision-makers.
- Real-time alerting functionality.
- Ready to use in the deep and dark web.
- Includes Virtual Humint capabilities.
- Compatible with major social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, Foursquare, and others.
Additionally, a specific tool for Deep Web analysis and Dark Web monitoring, useful for operating in Crypto Markets, Darknet Markets, and Darkweb Markets. A powerful and customizable tool, capable of collecting data from multiple sources.
DPI FOR IP MONITORING
A solution designed to gather information from various service providers and networks. This system employs passive, inline, or tactical probes to collect data. Passive probes are devices that monitor network traffic without interfering with or altering the data.
The system is capable of monitoring and intercepting internet traffic on packet-switched networks through a Packet Switch Probe (PSP). This probe is a hardware-software solution that enables the monitoring and capturing of data traffic based on fully customizable interception criteria. In other words, it can be configured to collect specific types of data or network traffic according to user needs.
Here an example of the system’s usage:
Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) that need to monitor traffic outside the networks of communication service providers (CSPs), such as in private infrastructures, airports, hotels, etc. The system can be used in locations other than the networks of communication service providers for surveillance purposes.

METADATA EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS
The main feature of this platform is that it is based on the extraction and collection of metadata. Metadata are data that describe other data, such as the time and duration of a phone call, but without including the content of the conversation.
The platform is designed to be used by Law Enforcement Agencies. This means that law enforcement can use the platform to collect large amounts of metadata from the Internet to enhance their investigations. The goal is to achieve “Intelligence through Information”, that is, to use the collected data to obtain useful information that can assist in investigations.
A key aspect of this platform: it operates in a “completely hidden and undetectable” way. This means that people or entities whose information is being collected, cannot easily discover this is happening.
Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) as a method for data collection: DPI is an advanced form of network data analysis that allows for detailed examination of the content, origin and destination of data packets traveling over an Internet network, thus enabling the identification, classification or blocking of specific types of traffic.
PROFILING
Thanks to Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) platforms with virtual Human Intelligence (Humint) capabilities and IP (Internet Protocol) monitoring through Deep Packet Inspection, advanced tools can be used to collect and analyze data from open sources, integrating information that simulates human intelligence and detailed network traffic analysis through Deep Packet Inspection, to obtain in-depth information about the behavior and communication habits of the individual or target group.
This is particularly relevant when encryption of the main communication tools can limit access to important information. In this context, every available piece of information becomes valuable for building a detailed profile of an individual or target.
This profile may include details about the devices and methods used for internet browsing and the applications employed for communication.

TRAINING
We are specialized training services and tailored workshops to teach the proper use of various intelligence methodologies in order to obtain crucial information for its clients. These services are customizable and delivered by highly experienced professionals in the technological and investigative field.
Continuous support and on-site consulting services are provided for IP intelligence solutions to utilize various techniques correctly, such as OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), virtual Humint, Social Network Analysis, and IP monitoring through deep packet inspection.

SOCIAL NETWORK ANALYSIS AND TRACKING
The adoption of HTTPS by social network platforms presents a challenge for traffic interception and monitoring. HTTPS is a secure communication protocol that encrypts data exchanged between a website and the user’s browser, ensuring increased security and privacy during browsing.
This encryption can make it more difficult for security operators to intercept and monitor traffic on social network platforms. The transmitted data becomes inaccessible using traditional methods, making it challenging to intercept and monitor traffic on social network platforms.
Nonetheless, a combination of different approaches can be used to achieve direct access to the information. This combination includes Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), virtual Human Intelligence (Humint), and IP Monitoring through Deep Packet Inspection.
